How to locate COM port number:

All our cables simulate a COM port to communicate with your mobile phone. With most cables you are able to check what COM ports they are using.  IRDA (Infrared Data Association) cables do not display a COM Port number.

Step 1
Go to the Device Manager Dialog box:

Windows 2000/ XP:
Start → Settings → Control Panel → Systems Hardware [Tab] → Device Manager [Button] → The “Device Manager” dialog box will appear
.
Windows Vista:
Start → Settings → Control Panel → System and then click on Device Manager in the top left corner under Tasks.

Step 2
On the device Manager there are a couple of places you can check where your driver was installed.
  • Universal Serial Bus controllers
  • Ports (COM & LPT)
  • Infrared Devices (does not display a COM Port number)
  • Modems

You will see something similar to the image below.

Step 3a
Locating your COM Port Number for:
  • Universal Serial Bus controllers
  • Ports (COM & LPT)
The ´Universal Serial Bus controllers´ and ´Ports (COM & LPT)´ display the COM Port number at the end of the driver name.

First step: Double click on the Modem driver (This will open the Modem Properties dialog box.)
