Verify Cable Driver
Verify if the cable driver has been installed properly, make sure your cable is properly connected.
Step 1
Go to the Device Manager Dialog box:
Win 2000/ XP:
Start> Settings> Control Panel> Systems Hardware [Tab]> Device Manager [Button]> The “Device Manager” dialog box will appear.
98SE/ME:
Start> Settings> Control Panel> Systems Device Manager [Tab].

Step 2
On the device Manager there are couple place you can check where your driver was installed.
- Universal Serial Bus controllers
- Ports (COM & LPT)
- Infrared Devices
- Modems
Image on the left are possible result of Drivers installed by Datapilot (Depending on your mobile phone and cable, it will display different drivers). Most cables only display one driver.

Step 3
If you have any Exclamation points or Question marks*, the cable driver was not installed properly. Depending on your cable, the error is displayed differently. The image on the left shows two different examples of drivers not installed properly.
- Please note that the error(s) could be caused by other devices in your system that are not working properly.
If no errors, proceed to the “Locating COM Port Number ” section.

Locating your COM Port Number
All our cables simulate a Port to communicate with your mobile phone. With most cables you are able to check what COM Port it using. IRDA (Infrared Data Association) cable do not display a COM Port number
Step 1
Go to the Device Manager Dialog box:
Win 2000/ XP:
Start> Settings> Control Panel> Systems Hardware [Tab]> Device Manager [Button]> The “Device Manager” dialog box will appear.
98SE/ME:
Start> Settings> Control Panel> Systems Device Manager [Tab].

Step 2

Step 3a
Locating your COM Port Number for:
- Universal Serial Bus controllers
- Ports (COM & LPT)
The 'Universal Serial Bus controllers' and 'Ports (COM & LPT)' display the COM Port number at the end of the driver name.

Step 3b
Locating your COM Port Number for:
First step: Double click on the Modem driver (This will open the Modem Properties dialog box.)

Second step: In the Modem Properties go to the Modem [Tab], here you will be able to find the COM Port number. Remember the COM Port number.

Step 4
Remember the COM Port number and proceed to the “Initial DataPilot Software Setup” section.

Re-Installing Driver Windows XP
Verify if the cable driver has been installed properly, make sure your cable is properly connected.
Step 1
Go to the Device Manager Dialog box:
Win XP:
Start> Settings> Control Panel> Systems Hardware [Tab]> Device Manager [Button]> The “Device Manager” dialog box will appear.
*If you have any Exclamation points or Question marks*, the cable driver was not installed properly. Depending on your cable, the error is displayed differently.
Please note that the error(s) could be caused by other devices in your system that are not working properly.

Step 2
Start the Wizard
Double click on the Exclamation point. The device properties box will appear, similar to the one shown on the left.
Click the [Driver] tab in the device properties.
Click the [Update Driver] button to continue.

Step 3
The “Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard” window appears.
Select the “Install the software automatically (Recommended)" option.. Confirm the above choice and then click on the [Next] button to continue.

Step 4
Select these options:
- "Search for the best driver in these locations"
- Check the "Include this location in the search:"
- Click on the Browse [button]
- click on the [Next] button to continue.

Step 5
"Browse For Folder" window appears:
- Select the appropriate folder that contains drivers for your cable
- click on the [OK] button to continue.

Step 6
Confirm the results and then click on the [Next] button to continue.
|
|
When installing your cable driver Windows may display a warning:
If you receive a 'Digital Signature Not Found' warning, like the window on the right, indicating that the drivers being installed do not contain a Microsoft Digital Signature.
You must click on the [Continue Anyway] button to continue installing your cable driver, to properly communicate with your mobile phone.
We have thoroughly tested all our drivers with all our cables and phone models.

Step 7
The files will start copying,
A final dialog box will appear. Click on [Finish] to complete the installation.
If you get an error message, the cable driver was not installed properly. Go to http://www.susteen.com/downloads.htm to install the latest drivers. In addition, you should also install the latest version of DataPilot and try again; this will often solve most problems.
Go back to the Device Manager and check where your driver was installed properly.
Proceed to the “Verify Cable Driver” section.

Reinstalling Driver Windows 2000
Verify if the cable driver has been installed properly, make sure your cable is properly connected.

Windows 2000:
Start> Settings> Control Panel> Systems Hardware [Tab]> Device Manager [Button]> The “Device Manager” dialog box will appear.

Step 2
Start the Wizard

Step 3
When the “Welcome to the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard” Wizard appears. Click the [Next] button to continue.

Step 4
In the “Install Hardware Device Drivers” dialog box, “Search for a suitable driver for my device” should be selected (recommended). Confirm the above choice and then click on the [Next] button to continue.

Step 5
In the “Locate Driver Files” dialog box; select “Specify a location” and specify the location where the driver information is stored. Confirm the above choice and then click on the [Next] button to continue.

Step 6
In the “Driver Files Search Result” dialog box, it will give you the result and directory where it will put the driver (the drive letter will vary). Confirm the results and then click on the [Next] button to continue.

Step 7
The “Confirm File Replace” dialog box is a warning to let you know that you are about to replace the data. Click [Yes] to replace the driver and continue the installation.

When installing your cable driver Windows may display a warning:
You may receive a 'Digital Signature Not Found' warning, like the window to the right, indicating that the drivers being installed do not contain a Microsoft Digital Signature.

Specify a location.
Click on Browse [button].

The “Browse for Folder ” dialog box appears; it will give you the directory where it will allow you specify what folder your driver is located (the drive letter will vary). Confirm the above choice and then click on the [Next] button to continue.

Step 6
Confirm the results and then click on the [Next] button to continue.

Step 7
Windows will display the file File that was found. Confirm the results and then click on the [Next] button to continue.

Step 8
A final dialog box will appear. Click on [Finish] to complete the installation.
